2025 Fraud Survey: EMEA Financial Fraud Trends and Investment Priorities

The European fraud ecosystem is one of the most pressured across financial services and commerce. Not only has this market been a target for fraudsters for some time, it faces far reaching regulation updates and a quickly growing and diverging payments and ecommerce ecosystem. The rapid globalization of core markets within the Middle East and Africa, as well as a push toward financial inclusion, have produced some truly groundbreaking innovation – but also waves of highly sophisticated and ferocious fraud attacks.

This 2024 fraud survey examines the landscape of fraud in Europe, the Middle East, and Africa (EMEA), from common fraud typologies to the technologies that banks and payment facilitators are using to address the challenges they face. The survey touches on several themes and topic areas, including fraud typologies, how technology is and isn’t used today, challenges and drivers of change, and institutions’ investments and priorities.
