In this report we examine the intermediates that firms can use to build risk analytics and computational environments. The report analyzes the class of applications and tools that do not necessarily compute risk and prices or directly provide valuations, but which provide operating environments.

It includes quadrants focused on intermediates such as domain-specific languages, computational abstraction elements (which abstract computation on specific hardware and enable rapid development), automatic differentiation tools and various function approximators and related libraries. It will also look at the math optimization environments now available.
